インドの話をしていたら、フランスの老舗ブランドJean Patouからインドにインスパイアされたフレグランスが登場です。2006年3月フランス発売。他の国の発売日はいつになるかよくわかりません。

The red champaca flower, in India the symbol for love, inspired the famous perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez for "Sira des Indes". Duriez composed his imagination of the taste of India and its rich, colorful culture with the natural exotic ingredients of bergamot, banana, pear, cardamom, ... The flowery heart is made of red champaca and ylang-ylang. The base notes musk, amber, vanilla and sandalwood give this gourmand scent its sweetness. To develop one of the exclusive ingredients, a special banana creme, Jean-Michel Duriez worked together with the French patisseur Pierre Hermé. This fragrance is a milky-fruity adventure you have to taste!

Patou大好きなんだけど、バナナ、ベルガモット、梨、カルダモン……あまり好きではないかも？　ミドルのチャンパカ、イランイランなどのフローラルノートと、ベースノートのムスク、アンバー、バニラ、サンダルウッドが良いといいなあ。
チャンパカはモクレン科の花の一種で、ある方によると「媚薬のような深みのある甘〜いウッディーなお花の香り」であるそう。
「インドのシーラ（シーラ砂漠）」という意味だそうだ。ネーミングが素敵……。
（でも、もっと一般的な名称にしないと売れないのでは？　愛のささやきとか情熱とか何たらら。インドってマニアックだよ……。今売れているエルメスの「ナイルの庭」的発想であろうか。ナイル川とかも考えて見ればマニアックだよね。）
